About Me

About Me

Welcome to my e-portfolio! This website serves to reflect my growth throughout my early teaching years!

My name is Ms. Cheesman and I completed my teacher education at the University of Lethbridge in April of 2019. My program consisted of two degrees, which were as follows: Bachelor of Social Sciences (History, Geography, and Psychology) and a Bachelor of Social Studies Education. I was inspired to enter this profession, largely because my mother was an educational assistant, and her commitment and collaboration with teachers provided me with a great deal of exposure to the world of teaching, from a young age.

My passion for teaching has only increased during my Professional Semesters and substitute teaching assignments, where I have been responsible for providing quality instruction for elementary school students, grades one to five. I am greatly looking forward to launching what I know to be an exciting career within the teaching profession, and I am committed to building a supportive, facilitative, and accommodative learning community.

In addition, throughout my Professional Semesters and substitute teaching assignments, I have found that my previous involvement with athletics, fine arts, leadership, and mental health first aid, have helped me relate to a variety of diverse learners. For example, I have been able to build relationships with a wide range of students because of my experiences as a basketball player, a chorister, and a disability support worker.

Moreover, as a beginning teacher, who has just recently completed a Bachelor of Education degree, I have a strong understanding of the K-12 curricular outcomes and the Teaching Quality Standard that I must meet, to dutifully uphold the title of “teacher”. I have demonstrated my competency throughout my Professional Semesters and have received exemplary feedback, with regards to my professional demeanor and my willingness to adapt to any working environment. Furthermore, relationship building and excellence in communication are the foundations upon which I have built my beginning teaching practice.
