Teaching Art

I enjoyed teaching art, because I was able to use my creativity to both inspire and motivate all students to put their best work forward. Students engaged with a variety of activities such as painting, drawing, cutting and pasting. When the opportunity presented itself, I used seasonal or themed art projects for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter. Below is an example of the St.Patricks Day themed art project.

In addition to seasonal and themed art, I also used grade level appropriate picture books to inspire art projects. I would begin the class with a read aloud of a chosen book. The above picture features the book entitled "Nana's Cold Days"  Adwoa Badoe (Author), Bushra Junaid (Illustrator)

The One District One Book project provided the unique opportunity to take on art projects that were inspired by the book. More specifically, I tied this project to the kindness theme of the book, in that students had the option of incorporating kind words onto the tree to emphasize the power of thoughtful word choice.
